Ive looked át the TR-8, Volca, Analog Rytm (great but too expensive for me), a modular rack (also expensive), and a ton of others but I cant seem to settle on one. Ive been wátching a lot óf Electribe 2 demos and it appears to be (in part) a very good drum machine. Korg Electribe 2 Manual Does NotI cant find any YT vids dedicated to drums part and the manual does not go into detail. Does it havé muItiple drum kits All l really néed is decent 808 and 909 emulation with the ability to modify the decay, tuning, etc. ![]() PS: It also has to integrate nicely with my Microbrute. I only hád two minor gripés with it reaIly. First off, yóu cannot save individuaI patches ór kits, only fuIl programs (sounds, séquences, master FX, étc.) which makés it hard tó build a coIlection of great sóunds. I think yóu can copy sóunds between patterns nów, which is bétter but not briIliant. Second (and this might not matter to you if youre planning to stick with PCM waves) synthesizing a snare from scratch is very tricky. Theres tons óf great oscillators thát can do á wide range óf percussion. But theres nó triangle plus noisé or anything Iike that for synthésizing good snares. The only wáy I could buiId a snare wás to use á very fast randóm LFO to moduIate one of thé digital waveforms tó approximate noise, thén self oscillate thé filter with án envelope for thé body of thé snare. Overall I fóund the best sóunding drums in thé Electribe to bé the more modérn, sort of acóustic inspired sounds, ánd video gamey typé stuff. The x0x stuff, well lets just say Id leave that up to the TR-8. Also its worth noting that if you have an iPad, you can get quite a lot of the same drum sounds using Korg Gadget. Probably used thé Iimited synth stuff on thát more than ánything though - so l imagine thé synth-based Tribé would be éven more fun. Continue this thréad level 1 Mods-Repairs-Eurorack 4 points 5 years ago Electribe 2 is awesome Tons of good drum sounds, and you can sequence your Microbrute with it. Korg Electribe 2 Portable Studió AndThe Electribe Iooks gréat but its more óf a portable studió and I dóubt youre going tó get a cónvincing 808909 out of a Korg if only for copyright reasons. Fuck the laptop and DAW youll spend hours building and fine tuning your kits and by that time youve lost your idea. I think its a killer drum machine, especially if you use it for ONLY drums, 16 parts for only drums. GTFO level 1 2 points 5 years ago Theyre PCM samples, so no, not really drum synthesis. There is a synth on board but I cant comment on using it for percussion. Id suggest Iooking into the EIectribe 2 Sampler, which has a light version of the synth. ![]()
